A participant may have a home confirmed but still be waiting for disability-related supports to be set up and home modifications to be completed. In these situations, NDIS Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) can provide a temporary housing option. MTA is a home and living support that generally provides accommodation for up to 90days while an eligible NDIS participant waits to move into their long-term home. Longer periods may be funded in limited circumstances where there is evidence that disability-related arrangements will take additional time. There are many benefits to this.

A participant may already have a confirmed Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property,private rental, community housing arrangement or another home ready for them in the future, but still be waiting for the supports that will make the move possible. 4. Provides Time to Complete Home Modifications
Some participants eligible for Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA) may need accessible bathrooms, ramps, ceiling hoists or other disability-related modifications before moving into their long-term home. MTA provides somewhere appropriate to stay while this work is completed, rather than rushing a move into a home that is not yet equipped for the participant’s needs.
5. Provides Flexibility When Plans Are Delayed
Not every housing transition follows the expected timeline. Although NDIS Medium-Term Accommodation is generally funded for up to 90 days, funding may be extended when there is evidence that disability-related arrangements will take longer.
